Throwback to 2010.
"Home alone so no point whipping up a storm... it's not half as satisfying without someone to share the food. Ended up boiling a packet of instant noodles... threw in shredded cabbage, a fresh tomato, 3 mock fishballs and a huge scoop of tom yam paste. And yum, that's good enough for me alone!"

Movie and dinner date with my Mister~ Watched Moana and now both of us are enjoying piping hot velvety mushroom straganoff, hubby's in a bread bowl while mine's with a pot pie top 🍴
There are pandan cake and egg tart but somehow I'm always craving for something hot and savoury at night...

My first time trying to stirfry some brown rice flat noodles! :D Also steamed some vegetarian dumplings for myself~

Soup kitchen
Today, I came with my buddy-colleague and her two sons to help out at the soup kitchen. I think I've cut more vegetables today than every other day of my life combined! 😂 And it's not over. I'll be back chopping up some cabbages after lunch, which I'm having now. Oh look, I'm having chopped cabbages for lunch! 😝

My first cheesecake
Just hanging out with a girlfriend in the afternoon... She taught me how to make lemon cheesecake and I taught her steamed cuppy cakes.
We also made steamed cakes using instant mix too, thus two types of steamed cakes (smooth and open up ones) in pic.
My girls love them both and are enjoying their desserts now!

Braised noodles
Cooked dinner before fetching the girls home from their childcare centre. Everything went well~ My meat-lover hubby airfried some spam fries and popcorn chicken to go with my vegan mushroom braised noodles. It's been a great start to lovely December~ ^^

Sunday lunch was instant noodles
Hubby's car went to the workshop and we lazed around at home until lunchtime. Hubby decided to buy lunch from the nearby coffeeshop but I'm sick of the food there... So got hubby to buy maggi curry, frozen mixed veg and vegetarian rainbow balls (that's the name) for me. There's also mock fish (just soy and seaweed) in the freezer, and taadaa!
Gaaah... Somehow, I never get sick of instant noodles (>__<)

Anyhow pasta
Woke up craving... to... cook!
Whipped up my breakfast in the kitchen and cracked a double-yolk egg! Hope it'll be a day of double happiness. (^◎^)
The twin-yolk in a single egg has so much yolk while there's so little white... the egg white spread thin and cooked very fast, but i kept it on the stove for quite long as I dislike raw yolks. No "eggporn" pic when I savoured the dish... the yolks were the right consistency - gooey, sticky, yummy while the white was chewy in a nice way and everything comes out great. Yay, love it!
Added random stuff into the dish as I can't find my staple ketchup (mental note to stock up fridge), and the roasted sesame dressing has expired. So I threw in chilli powder with evaporated milk, wanting to make it like some kinda curry sauce, and then added dark soya sauce and vegetarian XO sauce as the taste was kinda flat... And finally I digged out my tomato pesto from a corner of the fridge. Yay! Recently expired and I used it anyway. It lifted the flavours nicely and I really enjoyed my breakfast! :D
Happy Sunday everyone!!

My noodles and baby's pasta
Cooked lunch for myself and baby girl, while hubby brought big girl out for a splashing good time with her cousin.
The first time I cooked yi mien, it was too salty to my liking, although my in-laws found it just nice. The second time I cooked for myself and it was kinda bland. I'm slowly perfecting my "anyhow-pour-the-soy-sauce" technique. Just like my mum, everything's gauged by eye, no actual measurement.
Today I added light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, a little sweet sauce and a little vegetarian sambal chilli... and I love the taste of my noodles. Yums!

"Seafood" noodles
"Mummy, can we eat now? Mummy, can we eat now? Mummy, CAN WE EAT NOW?!"
And this was after she had her big serving of porridge with her sister. 😂 I cooked vegetarian "mock seafood" (soy 'fish', konnyaku 'cuttlefish' and lettuce) yi mien for my dinner 🍴
My girl loves it!!

Why is there a Lego Duplo brick on the dining table?
Actually... I should have just eaten bananas for supper. XD

I had spicy maggi goreng on a bed of lettuce~

Maggi goreng
Extra mozzarella for my extra spicy maggi goreng.
Wanna rant a bit. I miss my parents' place where the fridge is always full of greens. Whenever I wanna whip up anything, there's sure to be some fresh greens in it. After married for so many years, I'm still not used to mil's fridge. Filled to the brim but not with ingredients that I'd love to use. I cook more nutritious meals when I was single and after married ended up with instant noodles whenever I crave to cook. I really envy many of my friends who get to cook for their families. My hubby and his parents don't eat my cooking, so my mil's always cooking for everyone. I'm definitely thankful, but I feel deprived of my chance to learn and to improve on my cooking.
End of rant. ^^ Thanks for the listening ears, much needed!!
